First, I want to tell you about Operation Write Home (OWH). It is an awesome organization that supports our Armed Forces by sending them blank handmade greeting cards which they use to write home to family and friends. Where do they get these handmade greeting cards? Volunteer cardmakers all over the United States, and even other countries, make them and send them to one of OWH's shippers. All types of cardmakers participate, from beginning to advanced, and they can send only a few cards at a time or boxes full of them!! There are deadlines for certain holidays, but you can also send all-occasion cards at any time. Upcoming holiday deadlines are Easter - March 18th, and Mother’s Day - March 31st. Please check out the guidelines as well...some are very important for the safety of our heroes (i.e. no glitter).
If you live in the Shreveport/Bossier area, please consider joining me next Wednesday to make cards for OWH. This is something I want to do on a monthly basis, so if your up to the task and would like to participate please send me a note to email@example.com. I figure there have to be a few military wives and families over at Barksdale AFB that would love to join in. So please help me spread the word :-)
